Jia Qian

Jiaqian (b. 1993, Shandong) is an artist specializing in soft sculpture and fine art handicrafts, alongside painting and design. She focuses on installation and sculpture, employing handmade paper, fabric, and mixed-fiber materials to explore spatial expressions.

She studied at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute from 2013 to 2017, earning her undergraduate degree, and continued there from 2018 to 2021, obtaining a Master of Handcrafted Art Design. During this time, she developed a distinct creative direction centered on fiber-based soft sculpture.

Her work employs soft sculpture as its primary medium, utilizing anthropomorphic biological forms as symbolic carriers to investigate the emotional expressions and psychological projection mechanisms of religion, family, and relationships.
She emphasizes the interplay between material, form, and space, often incorporating cotton, linen, and silk threads to enhance tactile qualities.

In her own words: “Every emotion deserves to be touched!”
