Bird

This work depicts a small tree whose crown has grown into a bird, its two slender trunks standing like legs on the grass. Alone in a hazy green forest, it remains clear and bright while the trees behind fade into mist. A tree offers a bird rest; a bird suggests flight and freedom. Here I merge the two: it gazes into the distance as if about to fly, yet its legs have already taken root. Wanting to fly away yet wanting to stay is a tension I often feel in my search for belonging.
