Embrace

This work shows two people embracing. They appear close, yet a clear distance remains between their bodies: not a heartfelt hug, but a polite, slightly awkward one. Today we are skilled at keeping the right distance; we hug, smile and show concern without reaching each other’s hearts. The negative space between them takes the shape of a house, one that exists only in the gap. This empty house is like an absence within a relationship: a longing for true closeness, and a distance that never disappears. Yet if they held each other tightly, the house would vanish.
