This work combines oil painting and sculpture, blurring the line between inside and outside the picture, imagination and reality. On a house-shaped panel, a boy in white, bird-like clothing rests beneath a tree as a paper plane flies towards its branches and a translucent dove crosses the sky. Outside the painting, a bird-headed boy emerges in relief, wrapping his arms around the house, holding home close while remaining outside. Like birds that nest yet migrate, the two boys are two states of one person: one has arrived; the other is still searching. Home is an imagined place of safety and belonging.
